And The Winner Isn't....

Oh, people, people, people. When will you fools see the light?  How could this beautiful, model-type writer person beat out our beloved angel, Jacob Appel?  The man had entered four separate manuscripts, been semi-finalist and finalist for almost all of them.  But does anyone ever choose the dude to bring him to his just place on top of the heap of the literati?  No.  Why is that? Why? But here's what I will tell you: dude's time will come. We just have to be patient.

It's maybe like when an actor is nominated twice in same category for roles in two different films in the Oscars but wins for neither, because it split the vote.

Or maybe Appel needs some pretty blonde, blowing-in-the-wind hair. Face job?

maybe he's better than most, but not the best? are you a fan of his actual works, or do you just champion him as a person? because, i don't know, maybe the blonde lady wrote a better manuscript...

Maybe she just submitted a better manuscript? Period. The end. I seriously doubt any legit literary publisher would request a picture along with the story. For all they knew when they picked her she was orange with green spots and had a horn growing out of the middle of her head. Lookism in the publishing world doesn't come into play until you're pics on the back jacket of your first hardcover. At that point, you have to look like John Grisham.

um...people on this site used to have a sense of humor. I was joking about the blonde hair and face. C'mon, everyone. I think you knew that.

I thought the Hudson was a first book award; according to the bio she's already had one book publication and another is forthcoming. Should have gone to Appel.

my comment was directed a wr, not you heynonny. sorry, i knew you were being funny. i think this mock (or maybe real) real obsession with j appel is getting stale.

he's a finalist in a lot of contests because he writes a lot and submits a lot. having actually read his stories, i can say they are competent. many are very similar to one another, however, which is a danger when you write prolifically (think updike). i'm in awe of the quantity, not the quality.

Stale is the primary feature of obsession. Look at this blog. Talk about obsession. Talk about stale. I'd venture to guess that you expect to much of me.

p.s. Jacob Appel for President 2012!

I don't expect too much of you, WR, not even that you don't typo "too" as "to". Now go ahead and correct it so this comment becomes redundant.

P.S. I love your obsessions and I hope Rosemary Ahern agrees to run on his ticket. Perhaps they'll be up against the dreaded Sarah P. Can't bear to spell out her whole name.
