Anything But Pleasing

Guess they wouldn't have guessed in 1907 how popular stories that are "actually repellent" and "deal with the horrible" would become.  Alas, the rejecting editor is always so short-sighted, no matter the era.

plenty of horrible and repellent stories were written and enjoyed long before the turn of the 20th century. I think this rejection is from the old-timey British equivalent of Ladies' Home Journal.

Long live the repellent, indeed. For how else shall we be guided as to the manner in which we may 'deal with the horrible?'
