Unsolicited Rejection

I didn't even submit a story for this contest, and they still sent me a rejection. Maybe I'm just on some random list somewhere called the Regularly Rejected. Maybe they figured I'd just plain appreciate being included.

KEEP WRITING, yourself.

  1. Maybe they figured you'd submit someday and they just sent the rejection notice now. That's quite considerate, isn't it?

  2. Maybe it's becoming cool to appear on your blog and their editor friends were all bragging about their appearances over lunch and they were waiting for you to submit a story so they, too, could brag, and when you didn't they just said, the hell with it, it's our turn and submitted their letter, knowing how generous you are in Never Rejecting Anyone.

  3. This is hilarious! Maybe they felt left out and didn't want to be the only peeps on the block to not have rejected you. What a major fudge!

  4. Who is Jacob Appel? This guy seems to win or "place" in every contest I read about.

  5. The fact that we haven't heard of Jacob Appel doesn't say much for the winning of contests.

I also just posted about this blog, and offered an example of a pre-submission rejection method which you, WR, are welcome to post here. It takes a completely different approach.

  6. I think you should send them a note, maybe they will apologize and commission you.
