I loved E.R. Burroughs when I was a kid! Loved his books, ate 'em up. Everybody should read pulp fiction like that to gain an understanding toward plot, story, pacing, etc.
Our lives would be super dull if it was all navel-gazing, pseudo-intellectual 'literature' like Wallace and Franzen. (Yawn). Oops, sorry I just glanced at one of DeLillo's novels on my nightstand and it made me yawn.
