Everyone talks about Catcher in the Rye, which of course is great, but Nine Stories by Salinger had an even bigger impact on my writing life. I started to write short stories after reading that book. And you're right, W.R., he was a strange man.

Oh, Franny and Zooey was my fave. Absolutely loved that book.

Hated Raise High the Roofbeams, though. (Sorry, J.D. RIP!)

And yet sometimes I find myself walking around, thinking, that title: "Raise High the Roofbeams, Carpenters!" No reason, really. Just thinking the title. Something totally catchy/crazy/memorable about it. The syntax makes me giddy. I don't remember too much about the book, though.
