The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. When he heard nothing back from the editor, he published it himself and became a hugely successful self-published author. Just a little Monday-morning thought for you.

It's actually nice to know that self-publishing is a...last resort option. I guess you could market it on your blog. That would probably lead to five orders. Maybe six. Most blog readers are used to getting the bloggers' writing for free.
Oh, my god. Thank you! Because when I saw "Omar Kahhayam" for a second I thought this was going to be a story about how some jaded NY editor managed to send a rejection letter back in time. That would take the cake.
