honestly, i don't think it's so slimy of them to advert their own editing services. probably the majority of ms they receive suck balls, grammar- and style-wise.
an ethical issue may arise if editing is their bread and butter, while acting as agent accounts for only a small part of their revenue. it would indicate that the agency serves as a front for the real editing business. (a sure way to sucker a bunch of naive writers.)
is it possible to investigate these individuals to see how many ms they have sold before calling them out as scammers? who knows, maybe they are just a bunch of hucksters.
