Dear Writer: Thank you so much for sending the Nelson Agency sample pages of [title of novel]. After a careful reading, we are sorry to say that we don't believe this project is right for our agency. Because this business is so subjective and opinions vary widely, we recommend that you pursue other agents. After all, it just takes one "yes" to find the right match. Good luck with all your publishing endeavors.
Sincerely,
Kristin Nelson

She couldn't think of one editor? That seems sad.

It is sad, but maybe she doesn't represent authors who write in that genre. If Kristin Nelson primarily sells, for example, fantasy/chick lit/whatever, and the submission is literary fiction, then perhaps she really doesn't know the right editors for it.
Kristin, is that you?
All I can imagine is that the writer must be ahead of his/her time.
Cool blog site!
More than sad. Maybe there should be a new heading for nice rejections that go to the heart of what's wrong with publishing. "Tragic"?
