A vast public collection of real-life rejection
Oh and a byline TOO? WHERE do I sign, Mister Boss? Having worked as a freelancer for most of my life , I know that my only control is that of choosing who I'm willing to put up with. I've met some nasty air bags along the way, but this... Person (his real name?) sounds like a huge depression point on the barometer. You're right, WR: life is too short to put up with that kind of abuse. Ring him out and drop his address in the nearest shredder.
Forgot to mention: laraycarr website is "down for maintenance". This link may explain why http://www.glowhost.com/hall-of-shame/In other words, writers: Skull & Bones +Radioactive Waste Warnings to All.
There's that hyphen again!I've been reading up on this and there is some merit in comments I have seen relating to writing "jobs" posted on Craigslist. There are bona fide copyediting jobs on Craigslist, but certain of the "writing" jobs seem questionable. Not all--but I did have an interview with a start-up that was unusual, to say the least.
For those of you who haven't seen this yet, I thought the following link might be of some interest: http://accrispin.blogspot.com/2007/09/victoria-strauss-laray-carr.html
Thanks for printing this letter, it's valuable information for the new writer and experienced as well. When so many writers are dumped the way laray carr did it's important for every writer to know. After all, if they plan on releasing so many new pubs they're going to need content from somewhere. I think laray carr committed suicide with this DUMAS move.
we treat our hoes no better or worse than any other pimp treats his hoes. that's what i think they mean by "we adhere to industry standards."
