Here's one from today's mailbag: "I once received my query letter and manuscript returned from an agent without a rejection letter. Just a charming rubber stamp message on the top of my letter. It saidREFUSED."
Okay, maybe this isn't the place to ask, but I'm going to anyway. A couple months ago I sent out like 20-30 manuscripts and SASEs. Problem is, the price of stamps has since gone up and I didn't use those forever stamps things. Should I still expect responses or write it off?

The magazines will pay for the extra postage to mail their response.
Well, most journals will.
I'm all for minimalism. As long as it doesn't say "Refuse".
Or, maybe they should save the paper and just devise a serious of stamps: Not For Us; Terrible; Loved it; Sorry; Go Away; Dumb; Almost!
